Minutes
Board of Management
January
The Board of Management Meeting was called to order by President
John
Pringle 20 January 2001 at 9:15 A.M. in the meeting room at the
Health
Alliance of PA, 4750 Lindle Road, Harrisburg, PA.
Those in attendance were:
Robert Coleman Edwin Miller Herbert Braden
Willis Friese John Pringle William Lunsford
Richard King Walker Hoak William Marshall
Robert Maley Eric Bugaile
Chaplain Coleman gave the invocation followed by the Pledge to the
Flag.
Walker Hoak, treasurer, reported a cash balance of $3215.69. All
bills have been paid to this date. Motion carried to accept the
report as given
It was moved that the Secretary's Minutes be accepted as mailed.
Motion carried.
Edwin Miller then reported on correspondence received from Oscar
Stroh. Oscar stated that he has 100 Thompson's Battalion books
available which he would make available on consignment to the
Chapter. Discussion followed and it was suggested that another
letter be sent indicating the Chapter's desire to move as quickly as
possible on the selling of the books.
William Lunsford, Chairman Eagle Scout Awards Committee, reported on
progress of obtaining required information from local Scout Councils
and PASSAR Scout Committee.
Herbert Bradon, Vice President, reported on the status of the
Chapter's hosting the PASSAR Quarterly Meeting in February 2002. He
moved that the Treasurer be authorized to pay the Radisson the
binder fee for holding the dates and space required. Motion passed.
Discussion then followed on the
possibilities of speakers and presenters for the various programs
needed.
Robert Coleman, Awards Committee Chairman, stated that the Committee
is continuing to work on acquiring a biography for Charlton Heston.
Also, that the Committee is establishing a standard procedure for
the operation of the Committee.
The Nominating Committee, Robert Coleman, Chairman, proposed Eric
Milliron and Whitley Simmons to fill the recent Trustee vacancies.
It was moved and accepted.
Eric Bugaile, during a discussion of the newsletter, suggested that
11 xl7 inch paper be used to improve the appearance of the SAR
Almanac. It was agreeable to all.
Willis Friese discussing the Old Hanover Cemetery stated that SAR
grave markers are not available if the deceased has already been
recognized with a stone. He also indicated that many of the burial
sites are not known in order to mark them appropriately.
A new committee was established to review the Chapter's current
Bylaws and make any appropriate recommendations. The Committee
consists of Willis Friese, Eric Bugaile, and William Marshall.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 P.M. April

President Pringle reported that everything is "on track"
for the Awards Luncheon in May. He reminded the Board of the
Linglestown Memorial Day Parade which starts at 1:00 P.M. on May 28th.
President Pringle reviewed the Chapter's calendar and it's
participation with the DAR. Motion carried to accept the President's
report.
It was moved that the Secretary's Minutes be accepted as mailed.
Motion carried. Secretary Miller then provided the Board with a copy

and Board Member Willis Friese attended
"New Business
The Harris Ferry Chapter has presented a resolution that the
National Society present a gold good citizenship medal to Charlton
Heston in recognition for his work to protect the U.S. Constitution,
and asks that PASSAR endorse said resolution and forward same to
National for consideration. Watson Lupher moved, Charles Canning
seconded, that PASSAR forward the Harris Ferry Chapter resolution to
National for consideration; upon standing vote the motion was
passed."
