Volunteers are mailed copies of pages of the current project in transcription. They transcribe those pages into a plain ASCII text file and then submit the files for inclusion in the project. When they have completed the pages, they will receive an new batch in the mail.

The transcriptions are then posted here at Dauphin County, Pennsylvania Genealogy Transcription Project where they are made publicly available to the research community free of charge.

As one project is completed, a new one will begin. The 1st project will be the Commemorative Biographical Encyclopedia of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Subsequent projects are The History of Dauphin and Lebanon Counties, 1883, The History of Harrisburg and Dauphin County, 1925, and others.
