Sponsler, Samuel B., farmer, was born on the old homestead in Clark's Valley, Middle Paxton township, December 5, 1854. He is a son of George and Barbara (Bowman) Sponsler. The father was born October 30, 1821, and died June 6, 1894, while the mother was born June 18, 1826, and died August 8, 1872. They were married, December 20, 1853, by the Rev, C.F. Stover, of Harrisburg, and their children are: Samuel B.and Albert L. The father served as school director and as assessor. Samuel B. received his education in the public schools of his native township. He assisted on his father's farm until the latter's death, in 1894. He has served as telegrapher for several years under J.S. Fraim, of Dauphin, but was compelled to give up his position on account of his mother's illness and death. He has been school director and auditor for his township. In politics he is a Democrat and attends the Lutheran church.
